Prof. Naofumi Hiraoka, Institute of Technologists, Saitama, Japan

Dr. Naofumi Hiraoka is a professor and dean of students at Institute of Technologists (IOT, Monotsukuri Daigaku) in Gyoda, Saitama. His research interests include Tribology, machine elements and mechanical design. Prior to coming to IOT in 2003, he was engaged in research and development of electrical equipment and devices such as space satellites and medical equipment at Toshiba Corporation since 1982. He received BE and ME degrees from Kyoto University in 1980 and 1982, respectively, and PhD from the University of Tokyo in 2005. He is a Fellow of Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, a member of Japanese Society of Tribologists, where he was a trustee from 2008 to 2010 and an auditor from 2010 to 2012, and also a member of the Japan Society for Abrasive Technology. He lives in Gyoda City with his wife, 5 dogs and 9 cats.
