Ashok Garai is a theoretical and computational biophysicist. He is presently employed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at the LNM Institute of Information Technology, Jaipur, India. His qualifications and professional positions include: M.Sc. in Physics, Banaras Hindu University, India, 2003; Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India, 2010; and Postdoctoral experiences from the Indian Institute of Science, India; Jacobs University of Bremen, Germany and University of California at San Diego, USA. Recently he received major project from the SERB, DST, Government of India. He contributed numerous articles to International peer reviewed journals. His achievements include various quantitative theoretical models to understand the stochastic kinetics and the mechanicsm of various molecular motors, development of stochastic models for genetic network, development of thoery and concepts on conformational dynamics of biomolecule, and development of techniques and concepts in DNA nanomechanics. His general interest lies in the area of general problems of statistical physics with a focus on applications in biology.
